EastSide Arts used the time during lockdown to reconnect with a previous body of work made in 2014 – the EastSide Sessions – recordings of ten musicians living and working in east Belfast, filmed and recorded in ten special east Belfast locations.
One iconic location was not included in the original list of venues; Portview Trade Centre. The lack of opportunity for artists to perform live made lockdown the perfect time for us to create a new series of recordings in the Portview space.
The new recordings, made especially for EastSide Arts Festival 2020, feature two of the original artists, Gareth Dunlop and Edelle McMahon and two new artists, Dani Larkin and Arborist, who each recorded three songs in the beautiful 2nd floor warehouse space in Portview with its own unique sound, light and atmosphere.
This event, screened as part of the 2020 EastSide Arts Festival features all twelve new recorded songs, complimented by short interviews by Anthony Toner, producer of the project, with each of the 4 artists, talking about their experience of being an artist and musician over the last few months, future plans and their experience making the Portview Sessions.
