Belfast-based theatre company, Kabosh, is presenting Before You Go, a new play written by Laurence McKeown and directed by Paula McFetridge online for three free performances at the start of March.

With the theme of the fragility of love the powerful piece will be performed on March 2-4 with the last performance followed by a discussion with playwright Laurene and director Paula.

The play sees Sorcha O’Hagan preparing to go to Australia. Her bags are packed. Only an overdue conversation with her father remains before she goes. It is an examination of loss, love and living.

This courageous new production by Laurence is finalising rehearsals and will record the production in a found space in Belfast, abiding by current government guidelines.

Artistic Director, Paula explained their determination to keep bringing plays to audiences.

“Like everyone, we are adapting to new ways of living, of working and of collaborating together,” she said. “Before You Go is an evocative piece of storytelling inspired by workshops we led with young people from Cooley in 2020.

“In spite of the restrictions we are determined to showcase this important new piece of theatre for audiences in 2021.”

The project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

The cast is James Doran, Lisa Duffy and Eimear Fearon.

The opening showing on March 2 will take place from 7:30 to 8:30pm. The following days showing is from 1-2pm. The showing that includes the post-show discussion is from 7:30-9:15pm.
