A free online presentation from disabled charity the University of Atypical will see Meabh McDonnell present her show Dyslexic Bitch.

On Sunday, December 6, Meabh will present her show that relates to her learning disabilities.

Dyslexic Bitch is a mash up of material, spawned by Belfast born artists Meabh McDonnell. Her music is best described as punkfolk with visuals linked into feminist psychology.

Meabh’s set was recorded from her home in York (a.k.a. full lockdown York) with ‘help’ from her 9-year-old identical twins.

“This is an expression of disability, which she hopes others can relate to, exploring issues of equality and themes of a psychological nature,” explained Meabh. “I will perform a set including a song I wrote about one of my learning disabilities, paired with elements of my performance art.” Dyslexic Bitch will contain some strong language.

University of Atypical is a disabled-led arts charity, taking an empowerment based approach towards supporting disabled and D/deaf people’s involvement in the arts. The organisation specialises in developing and promoting the work of disabled and D/deaf artists and in reaching disabled and D/deaf audiences.
